Tainted Gifts
The boy walks through the woods
Not noticing any of his surroundings
Yet he sees the lake on his horizon
The lake is known to be the deepest of all
Only a few decide to try the fall
Many have told quite a tale of the lake
However, nobody wants to swim inside
For the loss of continuity occurs with a plunge
The boy wonders awhile as to how
The lake will change with a jump
He contemplates with a backward glance
A spring of the legs brings him up and about
To the clouds, then down into the lake
He feels and swims
Observing every frail bit of seaweed
Soaking in all the unwanted fantasies
Then the boy rises up
Back to his world of conformity
Soon thereafter, the boy walks about
With a feeling of bewilderment
Emptiness pulls him over
To the lake and into the water
Splashing and enjoying tainted gifts
